Cristie is from Columbus, Ohio. She has a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology, and a master’s degree in Public Health from The Ohio State University. She and her fiancé, AJ, have two dogs: a recently rescued, sweet and playful White Labrador Retriever named Raleigh, and a floppy-eared, goofy Doberman named Ruger.

Over the last 2.5 years at Hamilton County Public Health, Cristie has focused on tobacco prevention efforts with youth and increasing policy, systems, and environmental changes to address tobacco related health disparities in Forest Park, Lockland and the Three Rivers area (Addyston, Cleves, North Bend and Miami Township). She is excited to now be expanding her focus and working with WeTHRIVE! communities in Amberley Village, Evendale, Newtown, Reading, Whitewater Township, and Woodlawn.

Why did you become a Health Educator? “My passions around health and helping others led me to study biology and psychology in undergrad at Ohio State. When the focus of many of my courses concentrated on the treatment of health conditions, I wanted to learn more about upstream opportunities to improve health and prevent poor health outcomes. I was fortunate to have amazing mentors that opened my eyes to the important role of public health in society.”

What do you like most about being a WeTHRIVE! Health Educator? “I enjoy building relationship by listening to, and learning from, communities. Through these relationships, I look forward to exploring opportunities for collaboration in order to make the easy choice the healthy choice!”

Fun Fact: Cristie will be getting married Labor Day weekend of 2018.
