WeTHRIVE! Recognition Event on 9/13/11 honors the work of residents leading the way to healthy communities

On the evening of September 13th, I had the privilege of attending the third annual WeTHRIVE! Recognition Event for the communities of Lincoln Heights, Lockland and Woodlawn. Hosted by Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church, this was a gathering of about 140 amazing people who make a difference one step at a time, by working together and standing up for what they believe in.

Do you enjoy working with young people? Are you interested in empowering them to bring about change in their community? If so, we need your help!

WeTHRIVE! is working throughout Hamilton County to create Youth Advocacy Teams (YATs). YATs train 6th-8th graders to advocate for change related to physical activity, nutrition and tobacco in their school or community.

Each YAT needs an adult volunteer advisor…that’s where you come in!

As a YAT advisor, you’ll work with a team of at least five students. Activities may include creating a team name and mascot, promoting healthy food and beverages ...
